Website and Service Terms

Terms & Conditions

These terms explain the general conditions for using the Accolade Heating website and requesting HVAC or water-heating services. A written quote, work order or agreement may contain additional project-specific terms.

Important project rule

If these general website terms conflict with a signed quote, work order, financing agreement or other written project document, the more specific written project document applies to that work, subject to applicable law.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using this website, submitting an inquiry or authorizing work, you agree to the terms that apply to that interaction. Do not use the website or approve work if you do not agree. Additional terms may appear in a quote, work order, warranty document, financing agreement or rebate application.

2. Website information is general

Website content is provided for general information and does not replace an onsite inspection, code review, load calculation, diagnostic testing or professional advice based on the property. Product availability, service areas, pricing, rebate programs and scheduling can change.

Online forms and email are not guaranteed to be monitored continuously. Do not use a website form for a gas odour, carbon-monoxide alarm, fire, medical emergency or other immediate danger.

3. Estimates, quotes and approved scope

A preliminary estimate may change after inspection or once sufficient site and equipment information is available. A written quote should identify the equipment, included labour, known materials, taxes, exclusions, assumptions, payment terms and validity period.

No additional work should proceed without customer authorization, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to address a safety risk and the customer or authorized representative has approved that action.

4. Concealed conditions and change orders

Existing buildings can contain concealed or undocumented conditions, including damaged wiring, inaccessible piping, asbestos-containing materials, code deficiencies, drainage issues, structural restrictions, inadequate electrical or gas capacity, hidden water damage or equipment defects that were not reasonably visible before work began.

If a condition changes the approved scope, Accolade should explain the issue and obtain authorization for a revised scope or change order before continuing, except for necessary steps to leave the site safe.

5. Scheduling, access and cancellation

Appointment windows and completion dates are estimates and may be affected by emergencies, weather, traffic, inspections, utility work, supplier delays, equipment availability or conditions discovered onsite.

The customer must provide safe and reasonable access to the property, equipment, electrical panel, gas meter, water shutoffs and work areas. Pets and occupants should be kept away from active work zones.

Any cancellation, rescheduling, restocking or special-order fee applies only if it was disclosed in the written quote, booking confirmation or other agreement and is permitted by law.

6. Customer responsibilities

The customer or authorized property representative is responsible for:

  • Providing accurate property, equipment, ownership and contact information.
  • Disclosing known hazards, prior alterations, access restrictions and relevant building or strata rules.
  • Obtaining landlord, owner, strata or other approvals not expressly included in Accolade’s scope.
  • Removing valuables and providing clear access to work areas.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment according to manufacturer and service instructions.
  • Reviewing the written scope and raising questions before authorizing work.

7. Permits, inspections and utility coordination

The written quote should state which permits, inspections, utility applications or third-party approvals are included and who is responsible for each item. Approval by a permit authority, utility, manufacturer, financing provider or rebate administrator is outside Accolade’s control.

8. Deposits, invoices and payment

Deposit requirements, progress payments, final payment dates, accepted methods and any financing terms are governed by the written quote or agreement. Unless the written documents state otherwise, invoices are payable according to the due date shown.

The customer should not withhold payment for completed, approved work because a third-party rebate, financing payment, warranty claim or insurance claim is delayed or denied, unless the written agreement expressly makes payment conditional on that third-party result.

9. Equipment, parts and substitutions

Quoted equipment and parts are subject to supplier availability. A substitution should not be made without customer approval where it materially changes capacity, efficiency, features, warranty, appearance or price. Delivery dates are estimates unless expressly guaranteed in writing.

10. Manufacturer and workmanship warranties

Manufacturer warranties are subject to the manufacturer’s registration, maintenance, installation and claim requirements. Labour, diagnostic, shipping and replacement-equipment costs may not be covered by a manufacturer warranty.

Any Accolade workmanship warranty applies only as described in the written quote, invoice or warranty document. Warranty coverage may be affected by misuse, lack of maintenance, unauthorized alterations, external electrical or plumbing problems, environmental conditions or work by others, subject to applicable law.

11. Rebates, grants, financing and tax credits

Accolade may provide general information or technical documents, but does not control third-party program funding, eligibility, processing time or approval. The customer is responsible for confirming current requirements, application deadlines, income or fuel conditions, eligible equipment and document responsibilities before authorizing work.

No rebate, grant, financing approval, tax treatment, energy saving or payback period is guaranteed unless expressly stated in a written agreement by the responsible third party.

12. Emergency and after-hours requests

After-hours availability can vary by technician capacity, location, weather, parts and safety conditions. Calling or submitting a request does not guarantee immediate attendance.

For a gas odour, carbon-monoxide alarm, fire, electrical hazard or immediate danger, leave the affected area and contact the appropriate emergency service or utility before contacting Accolade.

13. Third-party services and links

The website may link to manufacturers, utilities, financing providers, rebate programs, maps or other services. Accolade is not responsible for third-party content, availability, decisions, security or terms.

14. Limits and applicable law

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Accolade is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from website use, third-party decisions, customer-supplied information, pre-existing conditions or delays outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Intellectual property

Website text, design, photographs, graphics and branding are owned by or licensed to Accolade Heating unless otherwise stated. They may not be reproduced for commercial use without written permission.

16. Governing law and severability

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

17. Changes to these terms

Accolade may update these website terms. The date at the top identifies the current published version. Project-specific terms are not changed retroactively unless agreed in writing.
